Light up the Outback - bright lights for bright minds
In 2016, as part of our commitment to Secondary Outreach, young researchers from CUDOS in conjunction with the OSA/SPIE student chapters spent a week travelling to Rural NSW High Schools - at no cost to the schools!
Students across Years 9 - 12 got to
- hear about basic optics and current research directions, supplementing the existing syllabus
- experiment with hands on optical demonstrations
- interact with PhD students – understand what life as a uni student is like and talk about career options in science
In 2011 and 2014, our Rural Outback Tours reached over 800 students in schools located inland and along the NSW coast.
