During the first week of August, two CUDOS PhD candidates based at Macquarie University, Blake Entwisle and Dan Blay travelled to the Central West, Far West and Riverina areas of New South Wales on a mission to promote physics and science in rural communities. On their week long outback outreach tour, travelling a 1,800km loop to high schools in Blayney, Young, Griffith, Condoblin, Cobar, Nyngan and Gulgong, they conducted optics based experiments (such as the thermal camera, Laser Telephone, LED Velocity Juggling Balls), discussed current research, and encouraged students to study science at a tertiary level.
