Mick Withford elected to Fellowship of The Optical Society
Congratulations to CUDOS Chief Investigator Prof. Mick Withford who has been elected to Fellowship of The Optical Society (OSA) – a significant international scientific distinction.
OSA annually recognises members who have significantly contributed to the advancement of optics and photonics with election to the class of Fellow. The number of Fellows is limited by the Society's bylaws; only 10% of the total OSA members are designated as an OSA Fellow and the number elected each year is limited to approximately 0.4% of the current membership total.
Macquarie University CUDOS node Director Prof. Mick Withford has now been elected to fellowship of the OSA in recognition of his distinguished scientific accomplishments. His current research activities range from laser device development, laser applications, microphotonics, astrophotonics and quantum photonics. He has over 200 publications – including over 100 refereed journal papers – and several patents in the field of photonics.
