All-Optical Switching: Towards a Photonic Transistor

This Workshop was held September 27th and 28th, 2007 at the Coogee Bay Hotel, Sydney.

Thursday 27th was specially designed for undergraduates:
- to introduce scientific concepts required for understanding the following day, and
- to find out what CUDOS does and talk to students about postgraduate study in photonics
Armed with this foundation, the students took part in the following CUDOS Workshop.

CUDOS invited 32 undergraduate students from Australia and New Zealand to attend the All-Optical Switching Workshop and a specially designed introductory day.
The response was positive, with students enjoying the material and the location! Suggestions for more of a focus on demonstration/experiments have been taken into account for future workshops.
