Mr Druitt TAFE lab tour 2007
On October 15th 2007, 15 final stage Advanced Diploma students from Mt Druitt College of TAFE visited the Sydney University CUDOS labs with their teacher Doug Fraser. The aim was to show the students working laboratories and equipment they haven't otherwise had access to, as well as to give them a better understanding of the material covered in their Photonics Course.
Michael Roelens gave the visitors a brief overview of CUDOS before the students were split into groups to tour 4 different areas. Michael Roelens showed interested students the 160Gb Bert System while Jeremy Bolger showed them around the rest of the main laboratory. Michael Lee took them into the Clean Room and Eric Magi showed them what he's doing in the basement. Thanks to Bill Corcoran's logistical help everything ran smoothly.

Everything went so well. The students and I really enjoyed it. While I have given the students an introduction to Photonics they now realise there is much more. Their horizons have been well and truly lifted and that is good. I myself realise how quickly things change and it is easy to fall behind.
